*****VILLAGE PAYMENTS CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH TOWN PAYMENTS*****
Taxes: Following the completion of the budget process property tax bills are prepared at Walworth County and mailed as soon as available (around Dec. 15th).
Payments: Real estate tax bills are due by Jan. 31 and taxpayers have the choice of paying in full or in 2 installments. Should you choose to pay in installments, only the 1st installment may be paid to the Village/Town of Bloomfield. Please mail or deliver 2nd installments directly to the Walworth County Treasurer by July 31.
Due to auditing regulations your payment will be receipted on the day it is received.
Make your check payable to the Bloomfield Treasurer.
Please make separate payments for taxes, water/sewer bills and dog licenses and include a copy of your tax bill or write the tax key number (found in the upper right corner of the bill beginning with a "&" for Village and "M" for Town) on the memo line of your check. If your escrow check is made out to you and the Village/Town you MUST endorse the check. If you would like a paid receipt or dog tags mailed to you enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope or your email address.
Lottery & Gaming Credit: Wisconsin law provides a lottery and gaming credit to homeowners who use their Wisconsin home as their primary residence as of Jan. of the year in which the taxes are levied. Primary residence is the home where the individual lives more than 6 months of the year. The lottery and gaming credit varies from year to year depending on monies available from the state lottery. If the most recent tax bill for your property did not show a lottery credit and you feel it should have, please request an application from the Village Administration office and the credit will be applied to your bill upon submission of the application. More information is available at https://www.revenue.wi.gov/Pages/Form/lottery-home.aspx
First Dollar Credit: Wisconsin law provides a First Dollar Credit to all improved parcels within the state.
NOTE: In addition to the Village/Town of Bloomfield, the Village collects property taxes for other taxing bodies: School Districts, Special Districts, Walworth County, Gateway Technical College, and the State of Wisconsin. Instead of having you pay each of these separately the levies from all these entities are combined into one bill for your convenience. After payment the monies collected are divided and each taxing jurisdiction receives its share.
Dog Licenses are due January 31st. All dogs over the age of 5 months must be licensed annually. If your dog is not licensed by April 1st, a $5.00 late penalty will be added to the regular license fees. Proof of rabies vaccine showing the vaccination manufacturer, vaccination serial number, and the vaccination expiration date is required before a license can be issued, per state statutes.
Please use a separate check payable to Bloomfield Treasurer for your dog licenses. Dog Licenses can be mailed but you must include a self-addressed envelope
(separate from your tax receipt envelope)
